The Seder Plate Quiz
Click on each symbol and on the matching description place it correctly!
I'm here in memory of the
Passover sacrifce that was
offered in the Holy Temple,
and in memory of the
strength and might needed
for the exodus from Egypt.
I'm the symbol of the
sacrifce brought to the Holy
Temple during the
celebration of three
pilgrimage holidays The more
I'm cooked, the harder I get,
just like the People of Israel
got stronger the harder they
were worked.
I'm eaten as a symbol of
the enslavement of our
ancestors in Egypt, I come
in many forms and colors,
and when you eat me you
make a funny face.
I'm eaten as a symbol of
two opposites, slavery and
freedom. My texture and
color remind you of the
mortar used for the hard
labor in Egypt, and my
ingredients are a reminder
of nature in the Land of
Israel.
I'm eaten as a symbol of
the renewal and
blossoming of springtime.
In the past, royalty used to
eat me as an appetizer for
festive meals, and on Seder
Night, we're all royalty for
one night.
Legend tells
of Suzanna Heschel, who
requested one of the rabbis to
allow women to have a torah
aliyah in the synagogue. The
rabbi answered: a woman on
the bima in the synagogue is
like me on the seder plate…
and since then feminists put
me on the seder plate.
